Since its inception in October 1985, Avanti has always been a family affair. The company initially started out as a family business, with Mauro working alongside his parents and siblings. Born and raised in the Queen City, Mauro completed an undergraduate degree in Administration from the University of Regina and later went on to earn a Chartered Accountant designation before working for an accounting firm. It was while working with copitrak machines where Mauro saw the potential in selling office products instead of crunching numbers.
In the beginning, the company sold office machines along with used furniture. Eventually the decision was made twenty years ago to focus primarily on new office furniture geared toward the mid-range price point where clients receive the best value for their money. When pressed about the origins of the company’s name, Mauro reveals that it’s an homage to his family’s Italian heritage. The word Avanti literally translates to “forward” or “ahead.”
Fast forward to the present day, the company has 12 full-time employees and serves all segments of the market including home office, business to business, as well as institutional clients.
