The District Sand Courts

The District Sand Courts bring six full-size sand courts to The Yards, creating a new place to play, compete, connect and spend time in Regina’s Warehouse District. Built as an interim installation while The Yards moves toward its future development, the courts are about making the most of the moment: adding recreation, events and a whole new kind of energy to the Warehouse District right now.

Bringing the courts to life was a community effort, with support from the City of Regina, South Country Equipment, Geiger's Fence Erectors, S&T Property Maintenance and the Norman & Shirley Leibel Family. We’ve also worked with volleyball organizations to create a space that works for the people who play, whether that’s leagues, tournaments, clinics, community programming or a casual game with friends.

The District Sand Courts are placemaking, Warehouse style: a little unexpected, highly social and built to be used. They may not be permanent, but while they’re here, they’re here to be played on, gathered around and made part of the District.
